Bangladesh has announced its Hajj packages for 2027, setting the highest government package at Tk 6,15,263 and the lowest at Tk 5,05,648. Religious Affairs Minister Kazi Shah Mofazzal Houssain revealed the details at a press briefing at the Secretariat, alongside a reduction in airfare aimed at making the pilgrimage more affordable.
The announcement gives prospective pilgrims an early picture of costs and accommodation ahead of the 2027 season, and signals the government's push for a more accessible Hajj.
Government package details
Under the first government package, pilgrims will be accommodated within 1,000 to 1,400 metres of Masjid al-Haram in Makkah and in the Markazia area of Madinah. They will stay in Zone-2 tents in Mina, with services and meals in Mina and Arafat provided under Service Package-3 through authorised Moallems.
The expected stay in Saudi Arabia will be between 35 and 40 days, the minister said, with options to upgrade rooms or select a shorter package by paying additional charges.
Pilgrims choosing the second government package will stay within two to three kilometres of Masjid al-Haram in Makkah and within 800 metres of Masjid an-Nabawi, outside the Markazia area, in Madinah. Accommodation in Mina will be in Zone-5 tents. Shuttle bus, or Salawat, services will be provided in line with Saudi rules if hotels sit more than two kilometres from the Grand Mosque.
Private packages and airfare
For pilgrims travelling through private Hajj agencies, the cost of the standard package has been set at Tk 5,13,648. Under the private package, accommodation must be arranged within three kilometres of Masjid al-Haram in Makkah and within one kilometre of Masjid an-Nabawi in Madinah.
A maximum of six pilgrims will be allowed in each room. Private pilgrims will stay in Zone-5 tents in Mina, with services and meals in Mina and Arafat provided under Service Package-3. Salawat bus services will be mandatory where hotels are located more than two kilometres from the Grand Mosque.
The most notable change for many families is the airfare cut. The minister said the airfare for Hajj flights has been reduced by Tk 24,830 from the previous year to Tk 1,30,000. He linked the reduction to the government's pledge to ensure an affordable, accessible, humane and expatriate-friendly Hajj management system.
What pilgrims should consider
The published details let prospective pilgrims weigh cost against convenience. The higher government package places pilgrims closer to the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque, which reduces daily walking distance, an important factor for older pilgrims. Lower-cost options sit farther out and rely more on shuttle buses.
Pilgrims should read the accommodation distances carefully, since proximity to the mosques affects daily routine and physical strain during the busiest days. Those considering an upgrade or a shorter stay should confirm the additional charges before committing.
As with any Hajj season, applicants should prepare early. Ensure passports are valid, complete required vaccinations in good time, and register through the official channels rather than unverified agents. Comparing the government and private packages side by side, including room occupancy and Mina tent zones, will help each pilgrim choose the option that best fits their budget and physical needs.
