The Haj Committee of India has released the first waiting list for the 2027 pilgrimage, selecting 6,864 applicants and asking them to deposit their advance payment by 30 August 2026 to confirm their seats. According to a notification issued on 18 August, the seats became available after earlier provisional allotments were cancelled.

How the waiting list works

The committee conducted its Qurrah, or draw of lots, on 30 July 2026 through a random digital selection process. That draw placed 77,952 applicants on the Hajj 2027 waiting list. The 6,864 pilgrims named in this first release were drawn in serial order from that pool.

Selection at this stage remains provisional. A place is only confirmed once the pilgrim pays the required amount before the deadline. Seats left vacant by applicants who miss the payment date will roll over to a second waiting list, which the committee said it would release at any time after 30 August.

The notification listed the serial ranges called up in each state. These included applicants numbered 1 to 1,958 in Maharashtra, 1 to 1,694 in Telangana, 1 to 1,168 in Karnataka, 1 to 873 in Kerala, 1 to 672 in Gujarat, 1 to 551 in Madhya Pradesh, 1 to 500 in Tamil Nadu, 1 to 343 in Delhi NCR, 1 to 82 in Chhattisgarh and 1 to 22 in Manipur.

What selected pilgrims must pay

Each selected applicant must deposit Rs 1,52,300. According to the committee, this covers an advance Haj amount of Rs 1,50,000, miscellaneous dues of Rs 2,000 and a non-refundable processing fee of Rs 300. Payment can be made through the e-payment facility on the Haj Committee of India website or the Haj Suvidha app, using a credit card, debit card, net banking, UPI or a bank transfer to the committee's accounts at the State Bank of India or Union Bank of India.

After paying, pilgrims must upload a signed copy of their Hajj Application Form, a copy of the pay-in slip and a medical and fitness certificate. All of these steps must be completed by the 30 August deadline.

Flights, embarkation points and dates

The committee said the Hajj 2027 action plan has not yet fixed inbound and outbound flight times. Inbound flights are expected to begin in early May 2027, with return flights running from late May into mid-June. The likely dates for the pilgrimage are 16 to 21 May 2027, though the final schedule depends on the sighting of the Dhul Hijjah 1448 moon.

India will operate from 19 embarkation points for the 2027 season, one more than the 18 used last year. The list runs from Srinagar, Gaya, Guwahati, Indore and Patna through Jaipur, Nagpur, Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Cochin, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Kannur, Vijayawada and Calicut. Bhopal and Aurangabad, both used in 2026, do not appear on the current list, while the Patna point remains subject to clearance from the relevant ministries.

Practical tips for waitlisted pilgrims

Applicants should check the state-wise lists directly on the official Haj Committee of India website rather than relying on forwarded messages. To do so, open the Haj 2027 menu, select the waiting list download, choose the relevant state and search for the applicant's name and waiting list number.

Those who are selected should not delay payment, as the confirmation window is short and vacant seats pass quickly to the next list. Pilgrims are also advised to keep their medical and fitness certificate ready in advance, since it must be uploaded alongside proof of payment. Anyone not named in this first list should watch for the second waiting list expected after 30 August.
