Bangladesh has opened pre-registration for the 2027 Hajj and set a minimum age of 15 for applicants. The country's Ministry of Religious Affairs announced that the pre-registration window runs from July 27 to September 24, 2026, and said the timeline was fixed in line with the Hajj roadmap issued by Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.

The ministry set out the schedule in a notice issued on Sunday. Anyone intending to perform Hajj in 2027 must complete pre-registration within the stated window through either the government or private channel.

Fees and deadlines

Before pre-registration, pilgrims must pay Tk 30,000. To complete pre-registration, applicants deposit Tk 3.5 lakh through the government or private channel. Those who finish pre-registration must then pay the remaining package price and complete final registration by December 10, 2026.

The staggered structure means pilgrims lock in their place in the queue first and settle the full package cost later, once agencies and the ministry confirm arrangements for the season.

Where and how to register

Under the government channel, applicants can register by creating a user profile on the e-Hajj system at hajj.gov.bd. The ministry said registration is also available through Union Digital Centres, the divisional and district offices of the Islamic Foundation, district and upazila model mosques, the Islamic Foundation's Baitul Mukarram office and the Dhaka Hajj Office.

Government-channel pilgrims must deposit their money through a voucher at any branch of Sonali Bank. Private-channel pilgrims must pay into their chosen agency's designated bank account, with the account details published on the Hajj portal under each agency's profile. During pre-registration, applicants must provide information on training and vaccination, and select their district, type of Hajj and Hajj package.

Age limit and health rules

The most significant new condition is the age floor. People below 15 years of age will not be allowed to perform Hajj under the 2027 rules. The ministry also laid out a detailed list of medical conditions that make an applicant ineligible.

Those suffering from serious illnesses, including heart, lung, liver or kidney diseases, neurological or mental disorders, and dementia, will not be permitted. Cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, biological therapy or radiotherapy are also excluded. People with active infectious diseases that could affect public health, such as tuberculosis and haemorrhagic fever, cannot perform Hajj.

The rules extend to pregnancy. Women in the last two months of pregnancy, or those with high-risk pregnancies, will not receive the fitness certificates required for Hajj. Applicants must also hold a passport valid until at least December 31, 2027.

A wider 2027 push

The registration schedule is one piece of a broader set of arrangements Bangladesh has put in place for the 2027 season. The Ministry of Religious Affairs has moved early on packages, airfare and agency licensing so that pilgrims have clearer choices when they commit their funds.

Authorities have licensed 357 private tour operators to take part in the 2027 Hajj, giving pilgrims a wide field of accredited agencies to choose from through the private channel. Pilgrims are urged to confirm that any agency they deal with appears on the official list before handing over money, a step that reduces the risk of fraud that can surface each season.

Practical tips for applicants

Prospective pilgrims should complete the Tk 30,000 payment and their e-Hajj profile early, since the window closes on September 24 and late applicants risk missing the season. Keep the Sonali Bank voucher or the agency's verified account details on hand, and confirm any private agency against the official list on the Hajj portal before transferring funds.

Given the health screening rules, applicants with chronic conditions should arrange a medical assessment early to confirm eligibility. Check that passports remain valid through the end of 2027, and plan for the December 10 final registration deadline so the balance of the package can be paid without delay.
