Bangladesh has announced its official packages for the 2027 Hajj and reduced the airfare charged to pilgrims, in a move the government says will ease the financial burden of the journey. Religious Affairs Minister Kazi Shah Mofazzal Hossain Kaikobad unveiled the packages at a press briefing at the Ministry of Religious Affairs in Dhaka on Tuesday, July 21, 2026.
Three base packages were approved by the executive committee on Hajj management: two run under government management and one standard package for pilgrims travelling through private agencies. The announcement follows a series of changes Saudi Arabia has introduced for the 2027 season affecting accommodation, transport and catering.
What the packages cost
Under government management, Hajj Package-1 will cost 615,263 taka, while Hajj Package-2, described as the affordable option, has been set at 505,648 taka. The standard package offered through private agencies will cost 513,648 taka.
The government also cut the airfare to 130,000 taka, a reduction of 24,830 taka from the previous year. The minister attributed the reduction to an initiative by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and said it would ease some of the cost pressure on pilgrims. Air travel is typically one of the largest single expenses in any national Hajj package, so even a modest cut has a visible effect on the total price.
Accommodation and services
The packages differ mainly in how close pilgrims stay to the two holy mosques. Package-1 pilgrims will be housed between 1,000 and 1,400 metres from the outer courtyard of the Grand Mosque in Makkah and in the Markazia area of Madinah, with Zone 2 tents in Mina and services under Service Package-3.
Package-2 pilgrims will stay between two and three kilometres from the Grand Mosque and within 800 metres of the Prophet's Mosque, outside the Markazia area, with Zone 5 tents in Mina. The private standard package provides accommodation within three kilometres of the Grand Mosque and within one kilometre of the Prophet's Mosque, with no more than six pilgrims sharing a room.
Kaikobad said private agencies may offer up to three additional packages beyond the mandatory standard one, provided that no private package offers fewer services or facilities than the government's Package-2. Meals in Mina and Arafat will be supplied through the moallem system under Service Package-3.
Key dates and a structural change
The minister noted a structural shift for 2027: there will be three service packages in Mina and Arafat rather than the four offered in 2026, with the former Service Package-D discontinued. The change mirrors Saudi Arabia's wider decision to streamline its service tiers for the coming season.
Registration for the 2027 Hajj is scheduled to close on September 26, 2026, with pilgrims selecting packages and completing preliminary and final registration through the e-Hajj system. Hajj flights are due to begin on April 8, 2027, and Hajj is expected to fall on May 15, subject to the sighting of the moon. Prospective pilgrims should compare the package tiers carefully, weigh proximity to the mosques against cost, and register well before the September deadline to secure a place.
