India's Hajj 2027 selection process has moved into its decisive phase. The Haj Committee of India (HCoI) has completed the digital draw of lots that decides which applicants will perform the pilgrimage, and has set a firm deadline of 10 August 2026 for selected pilgrims to make their advance payment.

The developments mark a critical window for the tens of thousands of Indians who registered for Hajj 1448 AH. Those who miss the payment deadline risk losing their place.

The Qurrah draw and key deadlines

According to a notification reported by ummid.com, the Haj Committee first extended the last date for online applications to 24 July 2026, after several state Haj committees requested more time. The committee stressed that no further extension would be granted.

The online Qurrah, a digital random selection process, was then held from 11:00 AM on 30 July 2026 at the committee's headquarters in Mumbai. The draw was live-streamed on the Haj Committee website. The list of provisionally selected pilgrims and the waiting list are published on the same site, with selected applicants also notified by SMS.

Selected pilgrims must pay an advance Hajj amount of INR 152,300 on or before 10 August 2026. This figure includes processing fees, and payment must be made online. The same date is the deadline to upload the signed Haj Application Form with declaration, a copy of the pay-in slip or online receipt, and a medical screening and fitness certificate.

The committee warned that cancelling an application for any reason other than the death or serious illness of the applicant will attract penalties and financial losses. Pilgrims were advised to apply only after careful consideration.

Quota, embarkation points and eligibility rules

Saudi Arabia has allotted India a quota of 175,025 pilgrims. Of these, 70 per cent travel through the Haj Committee and the remaining 30 per cent through private Haj Group Operators, a split fixed in the annual Haj agreement between the two governments.

For Hajj 2027, the number of embarkation points rises to 19, up from 18 the previous year. The confirmed points are Srinagar, Gaya, Guwahati, Indore, Patna, Jaipur, Nagpur, Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Cochin, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Kannur, Vijayawada and Calicut. Pilgrims must give two preferences in order of priority. The committee noted that Patna's status is subject to clearance from the relevant ministries.

Several eligibility rules carry over. A passport must be valid at least until 31 December 2027. Women aged 45 or above who wish to travel without a male Mehram may do so in groups of four or more, where their school of thought permits. Pilgrims above 65 years of age must travel with a companion.

Practical guidance for selected pilgrims

For those whose names appear in the draw, prompt action matters:

  • Pay on time. Make the INR 152,300 advance payment and upload all required documents before 10 August 2026. Keep every receipt.
  • Use official channels only. Pay through the Haj Committee website or the Haj Suvidha app, and quote the unique Bank Reference Number assigned to your cover.
  • Complete medical checks early. A medical screening and fitness certificate is part of the required upload, so arrange it without delay.
  • Beware Qurbani fraud. Adahi is permitted only through entities authorised by Saudi Arabia. The committee cautioned pilgrims not to fall prey to fraudsters offering Qurbani services.
  • Check passport validity. Confirm your passport meets the December 2027 validity requirement before travel arrangements advance.

The likely dates for Hajj 2027 are 16 to 21 May 2027, subject to the sighting of the Dhul-Hijjah 1448 AH crescent. With the draw complete and payment due imminently, the coming days are decisive for India's pilgrims.
