The Haj Committee of India has completed its Hajj 2027 Qurrah, the digital draw of lots that decides which applicants secure a pilgrimage slot. The committee said 1,20,917 applicants from 32 states and union territories were placed on the provisional list of selected pilgrims, while 77,952 hopefuls from 10 states were moved to a waiting list. The draw was held at Hajj House in Mumbai on Thursday, July 30, 2026.
According to the Haj Committee of India, the process began at 11 a.m. and ran entirely online through a Random Digital Selection system. The committee live-streamed the draw on its official YouTube channel to demonstrate transparency.
How the selection worked
The committee explained that applications from 22 states were fewer than the quota allotted to them. Every applicant in those 22 states was therefore placed directly on the provisional list without a draw. In the remaining 10 states, where demand exceeded the allotted quota, the Random Digital Selection process decided who advanced and who joined the waiting list.
The waiting list totals 77,952 pilgrims. The largest numbers came from Gujarat with 23,931, followed by Kerala with 13,091, Maharashtra with 11,433 and Tamil Nadu with 8,561. The committee said waitlisted applicants will get their chance if selected pilgrims fail to pay the required amount by the deadline. A separate waiting list is expected to be published after August 10, 2026.
Payment deadline and conditions
All provisionally selected pilgrims must deposit an Advance Haj Amount of INR 1,52,300 on or before August 10, 2026. The committee stressed that selection is provisional and becomes confirmed only after the advance is paid. Applications may be cancelled if the amount is not deposited in time.
Payments can be made online through the e-payment facility on the Haj Committee website or the Haj Suvidha app using a debit card, credit card or net banking. Alternatively, pilgrims may deposit the amount at any branch of the State Bank of India or Union Bank of India using the unique Bank Reference Number assigned to each application.
The committee also set August 10 as the final date to upload the signed Haj Application Form, the payment receipt and a medical screening and fitness certificate. It warned that cancellation on any ground other than the death or serious illness of the applicant will attract penalties and financial loss.
Flights and season dates
The committee said the Hajj 2027 flight schedule has not been finalised. Inbound flights from India are expected to begin around early May 2027, with return flights running from late May to mid-June 2027. The number of embarkation points has been set at 19, up from 18 the previous year, with the list including Srinagar, Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Lucknow and Cochin, among others.
The likely dates of Hajj 2027 are May 16 to 21, 2027, though the committee noted the final dates depend on the sighting of the moon for Dhul Hijjah 1448 AH.
Practical tips for selected pilgrims
Selected applicants should verify their status on the Haj Committee of India website by opening the Provisional Selection List, choosing their state and downloading the PDF. Pay the advance amount well before August 10 to avoid last-minute portal congestion, and keep the Bank Reference Number handy for any bank deposit. Complete the medical fitness certificate early, since it must be uploaded by the same deadline.
The committee advised pilgrims to arrange Qurbani (Adahi) only through entities authorised by Saudi authorities and to be cautious of fraudsters offering unofficial sacrifice coupons. Waitlisted applicants should monitor official channels after August 10, when the next selection round is expected.
