The Haj Committee of India has extended the deadline for Haj 2027 online applications and confirmed the date for its digital selection draw, giving intending pilgrims a few more days to complete their forms. The announcement, made in an official notification, moves the closing date to 11:59 PM on July 24, 2026, and sets the Qurrah for July 30.
The committee had originally fixed July 20 as the last date to submit online Haj Application Forms. Following requests from several State Haj Committees, it granted a four-day extension. The committee was firm that this would be the final adjustment. "No further extension shall be considered under any circumstances," it said in the circular.
How the Qurrah works
The Qurrah, or draw of lots, is the mechanism India uses to allocate its limited Haj seats when applications exceed the quota. For Haj 2027 the process will run through a Digital Random Selection system rather than a manual draw.
According to the Haj Committee of India, the online Qurrah will begin at 11:00 AM on July 30, 2026, in the committee room at its headquarters in Mumbai. The proceedings will be live-streamed on the committee's website, hajcommittee.gov.in, allowing applicants across the country to follow the selection in real time.
Once the draw concludes, the committee will publish both the provisionally selected list and the waiting list on its website. Provisionally selected pilgrims will also receive an SMS notification. The committee has advised applicants to apply only after careful consideration, warning that cancelling an application on any ground other than the death or serious illness of the applicant will attract penalties and financial losses.
Quota, payments and eligibility
Saudi Arabia allotted India a quota of 175,025 pilgrims in the previous year, and the committee expects a similar allocation. Under the Haj Policy 2027, 70 percent of the government's share goes to the Haj Committee of India and the remaining 30 percent to Haj Group Organisers, the private tour operators.
Applicants selected in the Qurrah must pay an advance Haj amount of INR 152,300 on or before August 10, 2026. This figure includes processing fees, and payment must be made online through the committee's e-payment facility or the Haj Suvidha app, or via a specified pay-in slip at branches of the State Bank of India or Union Bank of India. The same date, August 10, is the deadline to upload the signed application form, the payment receipt and a medical screening and fitness certificate.
The committee also set passport conditions. Passports of applicants must have been issued on or before the application closing date and remain valid at least until December 31, 2027. A cover, or group application, must contain a minimum of one and a maximum of five adults.
Rules for women and elderly pilgrims
The guidelines retain the provision allowing women to travel without a male mehram under specific conditions. Ladies aged 45 or above who wish to perform Haj but do not have a male mehram, and whose school of thought permits it, may travel in groups of four or more women. For older pilgrims, the committee said a companion is mandatory for anyone above 65 years of age.
The committee noted that Saudi authorities had, in a previous year, cancelled visas at the last minute for selected minors below 12 years of age, a reminder for families planning to travel with children.
Embarkation points and travel
The number of embarkation points rises to 19 for Haj 2027, up from 18 the previous year. The listed departure cities include Srinagar, Gaya, Guwahati, Indore, Patna, Jaipur, Nagpur, Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Cochin, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Kannur, Vijayawada and Calicut. Applicants must give two preferences in order of priority. The likely dates for Haj 2027 are May 16 to 21, 2027, subject to the sighting of the moon for Dhul Hijjah 1448 AH.
Practical tips for applicants
Intending pilgrims should complete and verify their online forms well before the 11:59 PM cut-off on July 24 rather than waiting until the final hours, as the committee has ruled out any further extension. Applicants should keep their passport, mobile number and payment method ready, and note the unique Bank Reference Number assigned to each cover before making any deposit. Those selected in the Qurrah must move quickly to meet the August 10 payment and document deadline. For sacrificial rites, the committee advised pilgrims to arrange Adahi (Qurbani) only through entities authorised by Saudi Arabia and to avoid fraudsters offering unofficial coupons.
