Tabung Haji said it is maintaining the Hajj cost at RM33,300 per person for Muassasah pilgrims despite inflationary pressure, global economic uncertainty and rising service costs in Saudi Arabia. Holding the figure steady for a fourth year in a row is significant given that many sending countries have raised fares for 2027.

The board has said that keeping the cost stable was achieved through efficient governance and strategic negotiations with service providers in Saudi Arabia. Accommodation, transport and the rising cost of services in Makkah and Madinah are among the largest pressures, and Tabung Haji has sought to absorb part of the burden rather than pass it directly to pilgrims.

The board is also continuing its targeted Hajj financial assistance scheme, known as HAFIS, with an allocation of about RM234 million for this season. Since the scheme was introduced in 2001, the cumulative amount borne by Tabung Haji has passed RM2.8 billion, support aimed at helping lower-income pilgrims meet the cost of the obligation.

Preparation courses and next steps

Alongside the offer letters, Tabung Haji will begin organising Hajj Basic Courses at more than 200 mosques nationwide from 25 September. The courses are designed to prepare selected pilgrims in terms of knowledge before they travel, covering the rites of Hajj and practical guidance for the journey.

The staggered approach, releasing offers from 21 September and starting training days later, is intended to give pilgrims time to confirm their places, arrange finances and begin structured preparation months before departure.
