The Nusuk application has gained a set of new tools aimed at making worship and travel smoother for pilgrims performing Hajj and Umrah. The update adds features that count ritual rounds automatically, show how busy the holy sites are in real time, and let pilgrims arrange flights and hotels without leaving the app.

Nusuk has become the central digital gateway for pilgrims, handling visas, permits and service packages. The latest additions push it further toward being an all-in-one companion for the journey, reducing the number of separate apps and websites a pilgrim needs to manage.

Tracking worship and crowds

One of the headline additions is a Tawaf and Sa'ee tracker. The app can now count and record completed rounds during Tawaf around the Kaaba and Sa'ee between Safa and Marwah. Pilgrims who lose count in the crowds no longer need to rely solely on memory or a companion.

A second feature shows live crowd levels. Nusuk now displays real-time occupancy and congestion for the Mataf and the Sa'ee area, helping pilgrims choose quieter times to perform their rituals. For elderly pilgrims and families with children, timing a visit away from peak congestion can make the difference between a calm act of worship and an exhausting one.

Maps, Qibla and in-app booking

The update also brings interactive maps of Masjid al-Haram and Masjid an-Nabawi, marking gates, facilities and prayer areas so visitors can navigate the vast complexes more easily. A built-in Qibla finder uses the device's location to point toward the Kaaba.

On the logistics side, pilgrims can now book flights and hotel rooms directly through Nusuk rather than turning to separate travel platforms. The app has also added Nusuk AI, an automated assistant that answers pilgrims' questions about services and procedures.

Taken together, the six features reflect a wider Saudi push to use technology to manage record pilgrim numbers and improve the experience at the two holy mosques.

  • Download and update Nusuk before travelling, and sign in early so permits and packages are ready on arrival.
  • Use the round tracker as a helpful aid, but keep your own awareness of each circuit, since responsibility for the ritual remains with the pilgrim.
  • Check live crowd levels before heading to the Mataf, and consider off-peak hours for Tawaf if you are travelling with elderly relatives.
  • Study the interactive mosque map in advance to locate the nearest gate to your accommodation.
  • Keep the app permissions for location enabled so the Qibla finder and crowd features work correctly.
