Pakistan has rolled out a significant upgrade to its Pak Hajj App, giving pilgrims far more control over their arrangements for the 2027 season directly from their phones. The Ministry of Religious Affairs says the enhanced digital system now lets applicants switch packages, change accommodation preferences, and manage documents without visiting an office.
New Features in the Pak Hajj App
According to Hajj Reporters, the upgraded application allows pilgrims to switch between the long and short Hajj packages, and to select their preferred accommodation type, including two-bed, three-bed, family rooms, or shared arrangements. Users can also cancel applications and request refunds through the app.
The platform now supports uploading and digital verification of medical fitness certificates, a step that has become central to the registration process. Pilgrims can additionally apply for mahram, meaning a male guardian, or for helper assistance under hardship provisions. The system also lets users print and manage their documents from home.
Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousaf promoted the convenience of the digital approach. "No office visits, no queues and no waiting, Hajj facilities are available at a click," the ministry stated. The service runs through the National Information Technology Board's Digital Hajj Portal.
Registration Numbers and Quota
Saudi Arabia has allocated Pakistan 179,210 Hajj places for 2027. Of these, 107,526 are reserved for the government scheme, while 71,684 are set aside for private operators.
The ministry reported that around 26,000 applications had been completed under the private scheme, leaving approximately 45,000 slots still available. The government scheme allocation has already been filled, and authorities have encouraged remaining applicants, including members of the diaspora, to book through the private Hajj scheme before places run out.
The upgrade sits within Pakistan's first four-year Hajj policy, covering 2027 through 2030, which replaces the previous annual system. A multi-year framework is intended to give pilgrims and operators greater predictability and to streamline planning across seasons.
A Push Toward Full Digitisation
The move reflects a broader shift by several countries toward paperless, app-based Hajj management. Digital systems reduce the need for in-person visits, speed up document verification, and give ministries real-time visibility into registration and health-screening progress.
