Visitors to the Prophet's Mosque in Madinah will find faster, better-organised help this Umrah season following the launch of a new Field Services Center. The center is part of the operational plan for the 1448 AH Umrah and visitation season.

According to the Saudi Press Agency, the center was launched by Sheikh Dr. Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz Al-Sudais, President of Religious Affairs at the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque, as reported on July 21, 2026. The move is aimed at strengthening on-the-ground religious services and improving the quality of care for the mosque's visitors.

What the center is for

Al-Sudais explained that the launch aligns with the operational plan's goals of enhancing field readiness, developing the religious services system, and speeding up responses to the needs of Umrah performers and visitors. The intended result is a richer religious experience and higher standards of quality in serving those who come to the Prophet's Mosque.

The center is described as one of the key operational pillars supporting the Umrah and visitation season. Its role is to strengthen coordination among the various agencies and departments that operate within the mosque, improve the efficiency of field work, and deliver religious services that meet the expectations of pilgrims and visitors.

In practice, a field services center acts as a command point close to where visitors actually are. Rather than routing every request through distant offices, it places decision-making and support nearer to the courtyards and prayer areas, so issues can be resolved on the spot.

Part of the 1448 season plan

The Prophet's Mosque is the second holiest site in Islam and one of the most visited places on earth. Most pilgrims who perform Umrah in Makkah also travel to Madinah to pray at the mosque and send greetings upon the Prophet, peace be upon him. During peak periods, the mosque and its expansive courtyards host millions of worshippers in a single week.

Managing that scale requires careful planning. The General Presidency responsible for the Two Holy Mosques prepares an operational plan for each season, covering staffing, guidance, cleaning, and the many religious services offered to visitors. The Field Services Center is one component of this season's plan, focused on tightening coordination and raising the quality of the help available on the ground.

The initiative reflects a wider pattern across the Two Holy Mosques, where authorities have been investing in both technology and field organisation to keep pace with rising visitor numbers during the year-round Umrah season.

What it means for visitors

For pilgrims, the practical benefit is quicker, better-organised assistance while they are at the mosque. Better coordination between departments should mean fewer delays and clearer guidance during the busiest hours.

Practical tips for visiting the Prophet's Mosque:

  • Plan around peak times. The hours around the five daily prayers are busiest. Arriving earlier helps you find space and move more comfortably.
  • Book Rawdah visits through the app. Access to the Riyadh al-Jannah area is managed by permit through the Nusuk platform, so secure your appointment in advance.
  • Note the service points. Familiarise yourself with where help, guidance, and facilities are located when you arrive.
  • Follow staff and signage. The season plan relies on organised flow, so cooperating with stewards keeps movement smooth for everyone.
  • Observe the etiquette of the visit. Approach with calm and reverence, keep your voice low, and be considerate of the many other visitors around you.

As the 1448 Umrah season builds, the new center is intended to help ensure that the experience of visiting the Prophet's Mosque remains smooth, dignified, and well supported.
