Singapore has opened preparations for the 2027 pilgrimage season, with the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (MUIS) confirming that Saudi Arabia has allocated the city-state a quota of 900 places for Haj 2027 (1448 AH). The allocation will be administered on a first-come, first-served basis through MUIS's online MyHajSG portal.

In a statement dated 4 September 2026, MUIS outlined a strengthened medical assessment process designed to help prospective pilgrims meet Saudi Arabia's tightened health requirements. The announcement sets out a detailed timeline of registration, medical clearance, and package purchase deadlines running through early November.

A tighter medical assessment process

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (MOHU) of Saudi Arabia now requires all prospective pilgrims to undergo an enhanced medical assessment, be certified free from disqualifying chronic conditions, and be physically capable of performing Haj independently. According to MUIS, these requirements are mandatory and must be met before a Haj visa can be issued.

To comply, MUIS has appointed medical service providers to conduct assessments for Haj 2027 applicants. The evaluation comprises a clinical examination, blood tests, a chest X-ray, an electrocardiogram (ECG), and a mobility assessment. Applicants with complex medical cases will be referred to a Haj Medical Panel of experienced professionals for further review.

MUIS said the strengthened process is intended to give applicants a consistent and clear understanding of their fitness for the journey, allowing them to make an informed decision about their readiness before travelling. Those assessed as medically unfit may be advised to defer their pilgrimage until their health improves.

Key dates and deadlines

MUIS has published a sequence of firm deadlines for the 2027 season. Applicants who registered before 7 March 2014 began receiving their Letter of Intent through the MyHajSG portal from 14 September 2026. Prospective pilgrims are required to complete their medical assessment by 13 October 2026 at their own cost, and are urged to register early.

Those certified medically fit must accept their Letter of Intent through the portal by 18 October 2026. Eligible applicants who have accepted their Letter of Intent will then receive their Letter of Offer, a formal invitation to perform Haj, from 20 October 2026 onwards. They must purchase their Haj package from a MUIS-appointed travel agent by 2 November 2026.

As in the previous year, applicants aged 70 and above who have received their Letter of Intent and are certified medically fit will continue to be given priority consideration for Haj 2027.

Warnings against unauthorised agents

MUIS strongly reminded the public not to engage Haj-related services from any unauthorised individuals or travel agents. It warned that doing so may expose pilgrims to significant financial risks, including the loss of money paid with little recourse for recovery, denial of entry into Saudi Arabia, or deportation.

The council advised that the public should only engage MUIS-appointed travel agents for Haj packages and related services, and that any encounters with unauthorised operators should be reported to the police immediately. MOHU has also cautioned that pilgrims found to have disqualifying medical conditions during their stay in the Kingdom may be liable for medical costs not covered by insurance.

Practical tips for prospective pilgrims

  • Book your medical assessment early. With a hard deadline of 13 October 2026, securing an early appointment reduces the risk of missing the window.
  • Keep your portal details updated. Ensure your residential address, mobile number, and email are current in MyHajSG so you receive time-sensitive notifications.
  • Prepare physically and spiritually. MUIS encourages applicants to be financially, physically, mentally, and spiritually ready for the journey.
  • Use only appointed agents. Purchase packages exclusively through MUIS-appointed travel agents and verify credentials before making any payment.
  • Watch the acceptance deadlines. Accept your Letter of Intent by 18 October and confirm your package purchase by 2 November to remain eligible.
